ARCHIVE: FORETHOUGHT
Welcome back people! Last month was Mental Health Awareness month and as such we raised £100 to support Young Minds UK. In our exploration of mental health, FORE takes a reflective moment to revisit our thought-provoking collection, FORETHOUGHT. This collection served as an exploration of the delicate balance between genius and insanity, shedding light on human psychology and social perspectives. Join us as we embark on a conversation encompassing psychedelia, mental health, and societal expectations, aiming to challenge the boundaries of what is considered 'normal' versus 'unstable'.
The Volatility of Genius and Insanity:
Forethought is a deep dive into the intricate relationship between creativity and insanity. Throughout history, numerous visionaries and artists have teetered on the edge of sanity, their brilliance often intertwined with a perceived sense of madness. This connection has sparked debates and discussions, highlighting the profound impact of mental health on creative expression.

Unveiling Society's Expectations: In today's society, there exists a relentless pressure to conform, to fit neatly within predetermined norms. Individuality and creativity often face condemnation, as society seeks uniformity. Forethought challenges this normative mindset, encouraging us to question the constraints placed upon us. It serves as an appraisal of avant-garde thinking, an exploration of the brainwashed state in which we unknowingly operate. Inspired by this, the collection features an acid-wash/tie-dye style co-ord. Its style represents the idea of a brainwashed state, while the fiery orange colouring depicts the mind when faced with pressure and burnout.
Promoting Creativity as a Solution: Rather than viewing insanity as something to be cured or shunned, we propose embracing creativity as a powerful alternative. Creative expression serves as an outlet, allowing us to break free from the confines of societal expectations and tap into the depths of our imagination. By nurturing and celebrating creativity, we can foster a society that values uniqueness and unconventional thinking.

The Kanye West Paradox: One notable figure who embodies the connection between creativity and perceived insanity is Kanye West(‘YE’). This creative genius has been labelled by many as 'insane,' yet his artistic prowess and unapologetic individuality continue to captivate audiences worldwide. Kanye challenges societal norms, pushing boundaries through his music, fashion, and thought-provoking statements. He serves as a prime example of how embracing creativity can lead to ground-breaking innovation and cultural shifts.

Reimagining Media and Fashion: In the realm of media and fashion, it is crucial to reshape our approach to mental health. Rather than stigmatising mental illness, we can use our platforms to promote and celebrate creativity as a catalyst for positive change. By amplifying diverse voices and perspectives, we can challenge the status quo, inspire new narratives, and champion the acceptance of individuality.

Promoting Individuality and Confidence: The Forethought collection aims to empower individuals to step out of their comfort zones and embrace their own personal style. By incorporating bold colours, unexpected textures, and unconventional pairings, our designs inspire confidence and encourage individuals to experiment with their fashion choices. We believe that fashion has the power to unleash the inner artist within each person, allowing them to tell their story and make a statement without saying a word.

Just as creativity and insanity intertwine in the realm of art and music, the fashion industry also holds the potential to challenge societal norms and celebrate individuality. Fashion is not merely about clothing; it is a powerful form of self-expression and a reflection of our inner thoughts and emotions. By exploring the link between genius and insanity, Forethought aims to inspire a new approach to fashion—one that celebrates creativity and encourages individuals to embrace their uniqueness.
